Gi BJJ Gent
At Stark Gent BJJ we love training in the gi. There's nothing we'd rather do that fold someone's with the person still inside it or chocking them with their own lapel. If we get to wear pyjama's we're happy.
Why you should train in the GI
You might be thinking to yourself. "You know what, I haven't seen anyone walk around in the city in a gi in the last 200 years; why should I train in the gi? And that's a good question.
Our first answer would be that it's just a lot of fun and that a jacket or a hoodie allows you to take the same grips as a gi.
The fun thing about training in the gi is that your grips are pretty stable, so you can build up a system of attacks by moving from one grip to the next.
It's also a bit slower than no gi, which a lot of people enjoy as well.
Putting on your gi feels like putting on your war armor. Nothing cooler than choking someone out with their own jacket.
(We also offer no-gi btw, more on the bottom of the page.)
How we aim to provide the best Gi BJJ in Gent
We believe that we believe that there are three major pillars to helping someone improve as fast as possible in their gi BJJ game.
- A plan - You need a structured lesson plan that sticks with the same position for a long time (one month plus) to remember and be proficient in any technique.
- Good Classes - You need the classes to use a variety of training methods that mix up intensity, resistance, and complexity to help install those techniques into your brain and body (Matrix style).
- Good techniques - You need the highest quality techniques instead of some random Youtube techniques. We only teach techniques that we've mastered ourselves, sourced from the best competitors and coaches in the sport.
We work day in and day out to make sure you get all of the above at Stark Gent BJJ.

Finding our BJJ gym in Gent
Company: Stark Ghent VZW
Address: Nijverheidskaai 3c, 9040, Belgium
Finding the entrance
You can just click the map above to find the easiest route to the gym. But sometimes people have a hard time finding the entrance because it's a bit hidden. That's why we're adding some extra instructions.
If you go to the location on the map below, you'll find a bike store named "Grand Départ" to get to the gym, you need to walk through the parking and walk in through the red gate on the right. There you'll see a tent, the door is under the tent on the right.
Parking instructions
Sadly, we're not allowed to park in the parking lot of the bike store or next to the gym. That's why you will need to park on the street.
